On Sunday night, I received an email from one of my favorite authors (we're talking literary goddess). The subject line said, "Blurb." It took my brain about ten seconds to absorb the significance of that magic word. She said something along the lines of...."I don't do this too often." In fact, I wasn't sure if she'd do it at all...that is...take time out of her own crazy schedule to read and review my book for the back cover. But she did. Good thing nobody else was around to hear me SCREAMING with joy. Or maybe you did?
Meanwhile, I've been chatting with a couple of freelance publicists. To be honest, I'm beginning to wonder if I should hire one. HarperCollins seems to have everything covered in the PR department. But I can't shake the feeling that I should carry some of the weight. Perhaps a freelance publicist can think outside the box. Both of them said, "Send me an advanced reading copy." My editor says the ARCs won't be ready until February. So once again...I'm waiting.
For some reason, my brother thought that the book was coming out this December. I had to explain once again that....yes, it's done. No, you can't read it until next year. Then my grandmother busted out with this comment:
"Have you started your second book yet?"
Yes, Grenna. It's in the works.
