monkey ear
I received a "monkey ear" in the mail today--a shiny seed the color and shape of a coffee bean. They can grow into catalpa trees from Costa Rica--over a hundred feet tall.
My mentor, Joyce Sweeney, sends them to people in her writing group who manage to get a book published. She calls them magic beans.
I'm not sure what to do with it. Dig a hole in the ground and watch it sprout into a beanstalk? Wear it on a necklace? Brew it into a potion? I'll take your suggestions!
